TDF®

For Financial Services Institutions

What is TDF®?
TDF is a way to understand people and how we work together. Some of us focus on facts, some on choices, and some on connections. TDF explains how we see our worlds differently and how to leverage these differences to bring value instead of conflict.  TDF helps us understand ourselves better and understand others better. TDF answers questions like:

  • Where are the situations and challenges where I am most likely to succeed?
  • Why do I enjoy this task and you don’t?
  • Why are you comfortable in this situation when I’m not?
  • Why do we seem to talk past each other?

How does TDF work?
TDF focuses on addressing one key, immutable human difference: Each person perceives and processes information about the world differently.
TDF says that there are different “types” of people, because:

  • People differ in how they perceive, understand, and process information about the world.
  • People perceive through three basic lenses: Thinking, Deciding, and Feeling.
  • Each person displays a pattern of relative strengths from these perceptual lenses.
  • This pattern of strengths and weaknesses forms the basis for each person’s interactions with the world around them, resulting in six primary “patterns.”
  • Each of these six patterns is equally healthy and useful.

TDF

TDF encourages people to understand their own strengths and limits, and provides a framework for understanding the strengths and limits of others.  Working together in training, we translate this understanding into tools for communicating and building organizational effectiveness.

TDF creates a common language within the organization for the human issues that are at the heart of work: change, communication, conflict, motivation, coaching, and learning.

While TDF simplifies the way we look at the complexities of people, it doesn’t discount our shared humanity or our unique individuality. But TDF does provide a map through the complex territory of our lives and interpersonal interactions, allowing us to make more intelligent and effective decisions and actions when working with others.
